Don Watson serves as the Board Director, Security & Compliance for TheBrightPath Foundation, where he leads the development and oversight of enterprise-wide security, risk management, and regulatory compliance practices. In this role, he ensures that all Foundation programs, partnerships, and operations are conducted in a manner that upholds the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and trust.

With over 38 years of experience in cybersecurity, governance, and compliance, Don Watson brings deep expertise in aligning organizational activities with recognized standards and best practices. He has extensive experience conducting risk assessments, developing compliance frameworks, and advising leadership on enterprise risk and security strategy across complex environments.

At TheBrightPath, Don Watson plays a critical role in safeguarding participant trust by establishing policies and procedures that protect sensitive information, ensure ethical program delivery, and support responsible organizational growth. He works closely with leadership and the Board to embed a culture of security awareness and compliance across all aspects of the Foundation’s operations.

Prior to joining TheBrightPath, Don Watson held Information Technology and Cybersecurity leadership roles within the federal government in defense, commerce, and law enforcement agencies, where he was responsible for building and implementing security programs, managing organizational risk, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards. He is known for translating complex security and compliance requirements into practical, mission-aligned solutions.

Don Watson holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He maintains professional certifications including Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified in Governance, Risk and Compliance (CGRC).
